Cabinet approves proposal for Mahanadi Water Disputes – Constitution of a Tribunal under Inter-State River Disputes Act, 1956 – request from State of Odisha

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the proposal for adjudication of dispute on Mahanadi River Waters. The Tribunal shall determine water sharing among basin States on the basis of the overall availability of water in the complete Mahanadi basin, contribution of each State, the present utilization of water resources in each State and the potential for future development.

 

Cabinet approves India-Morocco Cooperation Agreement in  Railway Sector

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its ex-post facto approval to the Cooperation Agreement betweenIndia and the Moroccan National Railways Office (ONCF) to develop long-term cooperation and partnership in different areas of railway sector.  The Cooperation Agreement was signedon 14th December, 2017.

The Cooperation Agreement will enable technical cooperation in the following areas:-

a. Training and staff development;

b. Expert missions, exchange of experience and personnel; and

c. Mutual technical assistance, including exchanging of experts.

 

Cabinet approves Agreement between India and Israel on Film Co-production

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its ex-post facto approval to an Agreement on Film Co-production between India and Israel signed during the visit of Prime Minister of Israel Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu to India, in the presence of both the Prime Ministers in Hyderabad House

 

Cabinet approves setting up of bus bay near Indian Defence University Land in Gurugram, Haryana

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given approval for de-notification of 03 marla of land overlapping with NHAI for setting up of bus bay near Indian Defence University Land in Gurugram, Haryana. The Cabinet also approved refund of Rs. 1,82,719 by Government of Haryana towards de-notification of 03 marla of land to Ministry of Defence, which was paid to Government of Haryana at the time of acquisition in 2011.

 

Varanasi to hold a two day Sanskriti Mahotsav ‘Swachhagrah – Bapu ko Kaaryaanjali’ on 21st & 22nd February with focus on Swachhata

To celebrate the creative and cultural industries in Varanasi and to focus attention on the need for Swachhta by using cultural forms, a Sanskriti Mahotsav “Swachhagrah – Bapu ko Kaaryaanjali” is being organized on the 21st and 22nd February, 2018 at the Man Mandir Ghat and Assi Ghat in Varanasi. The Minister of State for Culture (Independent Charge) and Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Dr. Mahesh Sharma will remain present on the second day of the event being held at Man Mandir Ghat on 22nd February, 2018.The Mahotsav will integrate the tangible and intangible heritage along the river-belt and will see the engagement of the academia, artists, artisans, writers, poets, environmental and cultural forums on the use of cultural expressions for conservation and protection of the river and the ancient city. The Swachhtadrive will be steered by school-children affiliated to Ministry of Culture, Government of India’s Interpretation Centres through exhibitions, songs, puppetry, nukkad nataks and folk dances.

The 2-day event would focus on performances on the theme of ‘Swachhagraha’ presented under the rubric of ‘Swachhagraha: Bapu ko Karyanjali’.

 

Amazon Launches Its 1st Food Retail Service In India

Amazon becomes the first foreign e-commerce firm to start its own food retail venture in India called Amazon Retail, piloting its services in Pune. It will reportedly be available on Amazon India platform and sell locally made and packaged food to the consumers directly. Amazon also has Amazon Now app, which connects retailers with customers for sale of groceries.

L&T arm bags Rs 1,680-cr orders from Pune Municipal Corp

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) today said its construction arm has won orders worth Rs 1,680 crore from Pune Municipal Corporation. In a regulatory filing, L&T said its water and effluent treatment business has bagged orders worth Rs 1,680 crore from Pune Municipal Corporation for ‘study, survey, investigation, assessment, design validation and revamping of the entire water supply system’ for Pune.

Infosys, PTC launch centre for industrial IoT

Infosys on Tuesday announced the launch of a centre of excellence (CoE) with PTC, a technology platforms and solutions provider, at the sofware major’s campus in Bengaluru.

“This CoE will focus on solutions for brownfield as well as greenfield industrial setups,” an Infosys release said here.

 

Adobe to set up AI centre in Hyderabad

US-based Adobe Systems will set up an artificial intelligence (AI) centre in Hyderabad soon.

Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao met Adobe Chief Executive Shantanu Narayan here on the sidelines of the ongoing Nasscom India Leadership Forum (NILF) and World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT), following whichAdobe made the announcement, said a statement from the State government.
