Prime Minister of Netherlands Inaugurates Indo-Dutch Ganga Forum at a Function in New Delhi

Prime Minister of Netherlands Mr. Mark Rutte inaugurated the Indo-Dutch Ganga Forum to take forward the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India and the Ministry of Infrastructure & Environment of the Netherlands  in June last year.

MobiKwik becomes first wallet to launch UPI through own virtual payment address

Digital wallet and financial services platform MobiKwik has become the first among the wallets to have launched UPI through its own virtual payment address @ikwik.

Mobikwik, which has about 3 million merchants on its app, is also the first to offer Bharat QR, UPI QR and intent functionality for merchant payments. Besides, MobiKwik users will be able to do P2P bank transfers using UPI. Currently, apart from banks, Google’s Tez and messaging app Whatsapp provide P2P bank transfers through UPI.

IBM’s Watson to power cancer treatment at Apollo

IT major IBM has signed an agreement with Apollo Hospitals for deployment of the former’s Watson for Oncology and Watson for Genomics. The two cognitive computing platforms developed by IBM help in providing personalised and evidence-based cancer care. Fifth India CLMV Business Conclave Held In Cambodia

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry of India, along with Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia organized the 5th India-CLMV Business Conclave in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. After four rounds of the Business Conclave in India, this initiative was brought by Department of Commerce of Government of India to Cambodia, for greater participation from the region. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was the institutional partner of the event. The inaugural session of the Conclave was attended by Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry.  Ministers of Commerce and Industry and Trade of Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Lao PDR were also present on this occasion.

WHO, Russia Launch New Campaign For Football World Cup 2018

A new video campaign launched targeting football fans on the occasion of the World Cup 2018 to promote healthier and more active lives.   The series of videos produced jointly by World Health Organization (WHO), Russia’s Ministry of Health and the 2018 World Cup Russia Local Organising Committee. It is one of many joint activities that will be implemented around the month-long World Cup starting from 14th of June. The campaign consists of 3 videos, each tackling key health risk issues of Tobacco use, excessive salt consumption, and physical inactivity.

HRD Ministry Launches Samagra Shiksha Scheme

Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar launched ‘Samagra Shiksha scheme’ for school education. The scheme focuses on improving quality of education, enhancing the Learning outcomes and using technology to empower children and teachers. An annual grant of 5,000 to 20,000 rupees will be provided for strengthening libraries in schools. The scheme will be focused on digital education. Samagra Shiksha is a program that unifies learning from the pre-school to class 12 levels and encapsulates elements of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamk Shiksha Abhiyan, and teacher education.

India Stands 44th In Competitive Rankings, USA Tops: Report

ndia rose one place to 44th this year in the global competitive rankings out of 63 countries that were ranked by the IMD World Competitiveness Center. India started from the 40th position in 2013 and dropped to the 44th rank in 2014. India’s rank remained at 44 in 2015 and jumped four places to 41 in 2016, dropping to 45 in 2017, and rising to 44 in 2018. In contrast, China bagged the 13th rank in 2018 as compared to the 18th rank in 2016. The top 5 most competitive economies in the world are: 1. The USA, 2. Hong Kong,  3. Singapore,  4. The Netherlands and  5. Switzerland.
