“The Health and Wellness Centers are expected to provide preventive, promotive, rehabilitative and curative care for a package of 12 services.” This was stated by Shri J P Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare as he chaired the 5th meeting of the Mission Steering Group of the National Health Mission (NHM), here today.ShriHardeep S Puri, Union Minister of State (I/C) Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, ShriAshwini Kumar Choubey and Smt. Anupriya Patel, Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare and Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog were also present at the meeting.

Aviation Multi Skill Development Centre at Chandigarh launched – a CSR Initiative of AAI to support skill Development for jobs in Aviation Center

A first-of-its-kind Aviation Multi Skill Development Centre (MSDC), a CSR initiative of Airports Authority of India (AAI) was inaugurated in Chandigarh today by the Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, in the presence of Member of Parliament Chandigarh, Smt. Kirron Kher, and Member of Parliament Anandpur Sahib, Shri Prem Singh Chandumajra. The Centre has been set up in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and is supported by the Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (AASSC) of India.

 

India Ranks 47th When It Comes To Inclusive Internet: Facebook

Compromised by low usage and poor quality, India is ranked 47th out of 86 countries when it comes to inclusive Internet and connectivity for all, a Facebook report said on Monday.Facebook, which commissioned the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) to create a comprehensive “Inclusive Internet Index,” found India in the middle of Asian countries (12th out of 23) when it comes to connectivity.”India places at or near the top of the lower-middle-income bracket on most indicators, except for availability, where it is 13th out of 23, compromised by low usage and poor quality despite relatively strong infrastructure,” the report said.

 

Cipla ties up with Roche to sell 2 key drugs in India

Drug firm Cipla and Roche Pharma India has said that they have entered an agreement under which Cipla will promote and distribute tocilizumab and Syndyma, the 2nd brand of Roche’s cancer therapy bevacizumab in India. This partnership is in line with Cipla and Roche’s efforts to improve healthcare and increase access to innovative, life-changing medicines in India, particularly to patients who currently do not have access to such, Cipla said in a filing to BSE.

Senior pontiff of the Kanchi Sankara Mutt, Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi, passed away here today following a cardiac arrest, hospital sources said. The 82-year old seer was rushed to a private hospital in this town after he complained of uneasiness, they said without pulging further information. Jayendra Saraswathi, pontiff of one of the oldest Mutts in the country, had been heading it for a very long time. He had succeeded Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Swamigal as the head of the Shaivaite mutt.

Amazon.com Inc has agreed to buy video doorbell maker Ring, the companies said on Tuesday, in what analysts see as a growing bet on delivering packages inside of shoppers’ homes and on home security.The deal valued Ring at more than $1 billion, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters. Amazon declined to discuss the terms.Ring is set to be one of Amazon’s most expensive takeovers, after its $13.7 billion deal last year for Whole Foods Market.The world’s largest online retailer believes that selling internet-connected gadgets from Kindle e-readers to its new Cloud Cam will spark more shopping on Amazon.com.

Moody’s Keeps GDP Growth Forecast Unmoved At 7.6%

Moody’s Investors Service today said Indian economy is starting to recover from the negative impact of demonetisation and disruption caused by GST roll out, but kept GDP growth estimates unchanged at 7.6 per cent for 2018.In its global growth forecasts for 2018 and 2019, Moody’s said the Budget for fiscal year beginning April 1 (2018-19) includes some measures to stabilise rural economy that was disproportionately hit by scrapping of high denomination 500 and 1000 rupee notes.”There are some signs that the Indian economy is starting to recover from the soft growth patch attributed to the negative impact of the demonetisation undertaken in 2016 and disruption related to last year’s rollout of the Goods and Service Tax (GST),” Moody’s said.It kept the growth forecast for India in the calendar year 2018 unchanged at 7.6 per cent and for 2019 at 7.5 per cent

 

SaaS-based customer engagement startup Survaider raises $500,000 from Chennai Angels, Axilor Ventures and others

Customer Engagement SaaS-based service, Survaider, has raised $500,000 in pre-series A round of investment led by Chennai Angels and Kris Gopalakrishnan’s Axilor Ventures. The round also saw participation from other angel investors (undisclosed), the company said in a media statement. The company had previously raised seed investment from some angel investors, again undisclosed.

 

India Q3 2017-18 GDP growth rate jumps to 7.2%; full FY17-18 growth seen at 6.6%

India’s GDP growth jumps to 7.2 % in fiscal third quarter (October-December) from 6.3% in the second quarter (July-September), Central Statistics Office data showed. India’s GDP growth had clocked 5.7% growth rate in April-June and 6.1% in January-March previous year. Further July-September GDP estimates have also been revised to 6.5% from 6.3%. Further full FY17-18 GDP growth is pegged at 6.6% versus 6.5%.

A Reuters poll had precited India’s annual growth in the October-December quarter at 6.9 percent. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently said that it expected India’s economic growth to reach 7.4 percent and 7.8 percent in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Razorpay to power UPI on IRCTC

Razorpay’s partnership with IRCTC is intended to offer a frictionless payment experience to consumers through the UPI channel and help users get comfortable with digital money, which will eventually help in increasing adoption of digital payments,” Razorpay said in a statement. It added Razorpay’s payment gateway is expected to process more than a million transactions a month on IRCTC website and mobile app.
