9th India-Japan Energy Dialogue held in New Delhi

The 9th India Japan Energy Dialogue was held in New Delhi, today. Minister of State(IC) for Power and New &Renewable Energy, Shri R.K Singh, and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Mr. Hiroshige Sekosigned a Joint Statement at the conclusion of the meeting.

Both Japan and India, as the third and the seventh largest economies respectively, recognized that having access to reliable, clean and economical energy is critical for their economic growth and in achieving this, both Ministers agreed on further strengthening of bilateral energy cooperation for energy development of both countries, while also contributing to worldwide energy security, energy access and climate change issues.

 

ESIC, ACDS ink MoU for the benefit of patients and students of both the institutions.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday at the headquarters of Telangana and Andhra Sub Area between two noted welfare-oriented institutions – ESIC Medical College and Super Speciality Hospital, and Army College of Dental Sciences (ACDS), Secunderabad, in medical and dental care for the benefit of patients and students of both the institutions.

All ESIC beneficiaries can now avail all basic and advanced dental services at ACDS. Medical and surgical patients of ACDS will now be referred to ESIC for management.

 

RBI allows FPIs to buy T-bills

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allowed foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) to invest in treasury bills issued by the central government.

The central bank’s move comes close on the heels of foreign portfolio investors being permitted to invest in corporate bonds with minimum residual maturity of above one year.

 

GAIL signs Rs 2,000 cr loan agreement with SBI

tate-owned gas utility GAIL India said it had borrowed Rs. 2,000 crore from State Bank of India to meet its general capital expenditure requirements. The loan is for a 15-year tenure, the company said in a statement, without saying what interest rate it would pay on the borrowing. “… The purpose of the loan is for general capital expenditure of GAIL, mainly in the gas pipeline projects, in the forthcoming years.

 

Rizvi ranked World No. 1 in 10m air pistol

India’s 10m air pistol shooter Shahzar Rizvi on Tuesday grabbed the No. 1 spot in ISSF World rankings, riding on his silver medal-winning performance in the World Cup in Changwon, Korea.

With 1654 rating points, Rizvi shot to the top ahead of Russia’s Artem Chernousov (1046) and Japan’s Tomoyuki Matsuda (803).

 

Railways launches portal to identify weak areas

The Ministry of Railways has launched an e-inspection software, a mobile app and a web portal to eliminate paper-based reporting of various inspections and passenger grievance redress system.

The e-inspection module will enable railway officers deployed on footplate (travel in locomotive of trains for short distances), level-crossing, per-departure, on board and station inspections to upload their reports online.

 

ACI Projects India As 2nd Fastest Growing Country For Air Passenger Traffic

India projected to be the second fastest growing country in the world for air passenger traffic. As per the Airports Council International (ACI), by 2022 passenger traffic in emerging economies like India will surpass advanced economies. The ACI, a global trade body representing airports across the globe, has put Vietnam at the top position with an 8.5% growth rate, followed by India at 7.5% and Iran at 7.3%. China placed at the 8th position with 5.9 percent growth rate. It placed the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi among the top twenty busiest airports in the world.

 

Union Government Launches Pilot Scheme For Procurement Of Aggregate Power Of 2500 MW

The Indian government launched a Pilot Scheme for procurement of aggregate power of 2500 MW on a competitive basis for three years under medium term from commissioned power plants without power purchase agreements. The main purpose of the scheme is to revive commissioned power plants which are unable to sell electricity in the absence of valid power purchase agreements. These plants can bid for power supply under the scheme.
