Memorandum of Undertaking (MoU)  signed between the Indian Army and HDFC Bank on the Defence Salary Package

A Memorandum of Undertaking (MoU) was signed between the Indian Army and HDFC Bank on the Defence Salary Package on 03 Apr 2018. The first MoU between HDFC Bank and the Indian Army was signed in 2011 and was renewed on 13 Mar 2015. The current MoU is tailor made to suit the requirements of serving soldiers, pensioners and families.

The signing in ceremony was chaired by the Director General (MP&PS), Lt Gen S K Saini and was attended by the top dignitaries of HDFC Bank headed by Ms Smita Bhagat, Head Government Business and Branch Banking.


Ola acquires ticketing app Ridlr

Cab aggregator Ola on Tuesday said it has acquired Ridlr, an end-to-end public transport ticketing and commuting app.

HCL launches career programme for women

IT services company HCL Technologies launched iBelieve, a second career programme for women, in Chennai on Wednesday.

iBelieve is a one- to three-month classroom training programme that will be a combination of recap of basics, technical training and imparting job-specific skills.

The programme is aimed at women with a career break of two to six years. iBelieve is priced at 2.5 lakh. Srimathi Shivashankar, Executive Vice-President, said final salary is arrived at by taking into consideration job experience, previous job role and profile and existing skill proficiency.


Google shutting down goo.gl URL shortener service

Google is shutting down the goo.gl URL shortener service. Launched in 2009, the goo.gl service hasn’t managed to survive even a decade. Michael Hermanto, Software Engineer, Firebase, said in a blog post, “To refocus our efforts, we’re turning down support for goo.gl over the coming weeks and replacing it with Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL).”

Crystal acquires Syngenta’s coarse cereal, fodder business

Delhi-based agrochemicals firm Crystal Crop Protection Ltd on Tuesday acquired Syngenta India’s pearl millet and sorghum seeds business for an undisclosed sum in order to strengthen its seeds portfolio, a press statement said here. “With this acquisition we will get a world-class breeding programme in sorghum and millets and will strengthen Crystal’s seed portfolio and improve market penetration in relevant markets.” said Crystal MD Ankur Aggarwal.


Paytm Mall raises ₹2,900 cr from SoftBank, Alibaba

Paytm Mall, the e-commerce arm of Paytm, has raised around 2,900 crore from SoftBank Investment Holdings and Alibaba.com Singapore, as per an RoC filing. With this the company is now valued at $2 billion.

The fresh funding comes after Japanese Internet giant SoftBank pumped in a whopping $1.8 billion in One97, founded by Vijay Shekhar Sharma, which is the parent of Paytm, for about a 30 per cent stake last year. Paytm Mall is also SoftBank’s third investment in any e-commerce venture in India after Snapdeal and Flipkart. Paytm Mall was created as a separate company in August 2016.


Gaku Nakanishi is new president & CEO of Honda Cars

Honda Cars India has announced the appointment of Gaku Nakanishi as the new president and chief executive from today.

Nakanishi replaces Yoichiro Ueno who was the president and the chief executive from April 2016, when he was brought in from Honda Malaysia where he was the managing director and chief executive.


Debjani Ghosh appointed as New President Of Nasscom

Debjani Ghosh, former managing director of Intel South Asia, is the new president of Nasscom. She has replaced R.Chandrashekhar upon completion of his term.
