SBI Clerk Syllabus 2017

Although it has now become a trend to get unexpected questions in the examination. But still below are the main topics which are somehow related to these topics & will help you to implement your strategy & overcome the situation.

  • For English section, if you are good at vocab then you can easily tackle any topic.
  • For Reasoning Section, one should be good with the depth of understanding logic.
  • For Numerical Ability, you should be good in playing with numbers then only you can overcome & score more in this section. Also, use short tricks as much as you can to save your time in the exam.

Points to ponder: –

1. There is a negative marking of 1/4th on every wrong answer.

2. Candidates need to score minimum percentage marks on aggregate.

3. For SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates, there is a 5% relaxation available thereon.

4. Minimum percentage marks on aggregate will be decided by the bank.


I. Reasoning / Computer 

It is expected that, , the Reasoning & Computer questions will be in the ratio of 30/35 : 20/15 which means the number of questions from Reasoning section will be more as compare to Computer section.

Reasoning Ability – Level (Easy to Moderate) 

The questions will be from various topics like –

(i) Syllogism – 5 Qs

(ii) Inequality – 3 Qs

(iii) Seating Arrangement (Circular – Inward Outward) – 5 Qs

(iv) Linear Arrangement (North South) – 5 Qs

(v) Puzzle – Floor based – 5 Qs

(vi) Coding Decoding – – 3 to 5 Qs

(vii) Miscellaneous Qs – 2 to 3 Qs

(viii) Data Sufficiency – 3 to 4 Qs

NoteNo Input Output questions will be asked in Clerk Mains Exam. 

Computer Aptitude – Level (Easy)

This questions will be from various topics like –

(i) Fundamentals of Computer

(ii) History of Computer

(iii) Internet

(iv) MS Office – Word, MS Power point, MS Excel

(v) Memory

(vi) Input Output devices, etc.

Quantitative Aptitude: (Level Moderate) Total Qs – 50

This section covers topics from various topics like –

(i) Number Series – (5 Qs.) (moderate)

(ii) Data Interpretation – 2 Sets -10 Qs (Easy to Moderate) – Tabular /Bar Graph / Pie Chart / Missing DI.

(iii) Simplification – 10 Qs. (easy to moderate)

(iv) Quadratic Equation – 5 Qs (Easy)

(v) Data Sufficiency – 5 Qs (Easy)

(vi) Miscellaneous Questions – 15 Qs.(Moderate)

Miscellaneous Questions consist of questions from different topics such as – Profit loss, Average, SI & CI, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Time, Speed & Distance, Boats & Streams, etc.

English Language: (Level Easy to Moderate) Total Qs – 40

This section covers topics from various topics like –

(i) Reading Comprehension – 1 sets = 10 Qs (Moderate)

(ii) Cloze Test – 10 Qs. (Moderate)

(iii) Parajumbles – 5 Qs. (Moderate)

(iv) Sentence Improvement – 5 Qs (easy)

(v) Spotting Error – 5 Qs (Tough)

(vi) Fill in the blanks –5 Qs (Easy to moderate)

General/Financial Awareness: (Level Easy to Moderate) Total Qs – 50

 It is expected tha 30 questions will be asked from Current Affairs + Static Gk and rest 20 questions will be from Banking, Economy & Financial Awareness.

Current affairs questions can be asked from different topics like – new appointments, awards and honours, sports, new schemes, national and international news, latest developments in science and technology.

Financial Awareness – Questions can be asked from latest Banking, Economy & Financial News. News from RBI, SBI, ICICI, HDFC, Monetary policy, etc.

GK & Current affairs part plays a main role in exam. For GK, try to get daily updates/important News. Read newspaper regularly and note down important news of the day, revise and learn it on a next day, which will surely improve your current affairs and you can score maximum marks in this section.

We will provide One Liner & GK Digest for General Awareness / Financial Awareness which will help you in preparing this section.

Clarification related time allotted for each section – In the new pattern, fixed time allotted for each section. Now it is expected that, during exam – candidate will have a choice to start the exam from any section but he/she cannot switch to any other section before the allotted time does not get over for that particular section.

If time gets over of a particular section,

you cannot attempt the section again.  

For e.g. – If a candidate starts exam with GK section and completed the section within 20 minutes and want to move to another section, then this option is not permitted.
