Q1: Option A
Commercial units consumed during peak hours in Mumbai = 1955
Industrial units consumed during peak hours in Jamshedpur = 3950
To find the answer we don’t need to multiply the units by 25% (as asked in the question) since we will be multiplying both the numerator (Commercial in Mumbai) and denominator (Industrial in Jamshedpur) by the same number.
Therefore, required ratio = 1955/3950 = 0.49

Q2: Option B

Therefore, the required difference is 97.5 units

Q3. Option C
70% of Industrial units at Rs.15/unit = 3950 * 0.7 * 15 = Rs. 41475
20% of Public Utilities units at Rs. 7/unit = 1050 * 0.2 * 7 = Rs. 1470
25% of Residential units at Rs. 6/unit = 1010 * 0.25 * 6 = Rs. 1515
Total bill = 41475 + 1470 + 1515 = Rs. 44460

Q4. Option D
Total units consumed in Mumbai from 8pm to 8am = 15% + 5% + 20% = 40%
40% * Total units consumed in Mumbai = 0.4 * 8030 = 3212
Commercial units consumed = 1955
Difference = 3212 – 1955 = 1257 units

Q5. Option E
Average consumption in Hyderabad between 4am and 4pm = (20% + 25% + 20%) = 65% in 12 hour
Average consumption per hour in Hyderabad = 65%/12 = 5.42%
Average Misc consumption per hour = 5.42% of 1300 = 70.42 units

Q6. Option A
Distance in plains = 60% of 150km = 60 x 1.5 = 90km
Distance in hills = 24% of 150km = 24 x 1.5 = 36km
Distance in desert = 16% of 150km = 16 x 1.5 = 24km
Total distance in plains & hills = 90+36 = 126km
Total time in plains & hills = 2.25 + y
ATQ, 42km/hr = 126/(2.25 +y)
42 (2.25 + y) = 126
94.5 + 42y = 126
y = 31.5/42 = 0.75 hrs
Avg. speed of man in hills = 36km / (0.75hrs) = 144/3 = 48 km/hr

Q7. Option B
If y = 0.75 hrs, x = 4.5 – (2.25 + 0.75) = 1.5 hrs
Then, time spent on work in plains = 42% of 2.25 = 0.945 hrs
Time spent on work in hills = 10% of 0.75 = 0.075 hrs
Time spent on work in desert = 2% of 1.5 = 0.030 hrs
Total time spent on work = 0.945 + 0.075 + 0.030 = 1.05 hrs
Time (in minutes) = 1.05 x 60 = 63 minutes
Questions he can answer in 63 minutes = Quotient of ( 63 / 5 )
= 12 questions
His pay = (12 questions) x (₹75) = ₹ 900
Savings = 12.5% of 900 = ₹112.5

Q9. Option D
Distance in plains = 60% of 150km = 60 x 1.5 = 90km
Distance in hills = 24% of 150km = 24 x 1.5 = 36km
Distance in desert = 16% of 150km = 16 x 1.5 = 24km
So, ATQ, m% of 24 = 36
Or, m = (36 x 100)/24 = 1.5 x 100 = 150% … (1)
And, n% of 90 = 24
Or, n = (24 x 100)/90 = 24 x 0.9 = (80/3) % … (2)
Required ratio = [150 + (80/3)]: [150 – (80/3)] = (450+80): (450-80) = 530: 370 = 53: 37

Q10. Option E
Given that, x – y = 0.75
And, x + y = 4.5 -2.25 = 2.25
Adding them, 2x = 3 or, x = 1.5hrs and y = 2.25 – x = 0.75 hrs
Distance in hills = 24% of 150km = 24 x 1.5 = 36km = a (say)
Distance in desert = 16% of 150km = 16 x 1.5 = 24km = b (say)
Swapping a and b, while time remained same,
Distance in hills = b = 24km in time taken in desert = x = 1.5hrs
Distance in desert = a = 36 km in time taken on hills = y = 0.75hrs
Avg. speed of B on hills = 24km/ 1.5hrs = 16km/hr
Avg. speed of B in desert = 36km/ 0.75hrs = 48km/hr
Required ratio = 16km/hr : 48 km/hr = 1 : 3
