SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2016: Details

SSC CHSL exam eligibility criteria 2016 can divided into various sub sections like the educational qualifications, the age limit and the nationality. All criteria given below:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have passed minimum 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized Board or University.
  • Certificate obtained through open school / university, must be recognized by Distance Education Council (DEC) IGNOU.
  • Candidates, who entitled for typing test / skill test, are required to produce the original documents, cast certificate(if applicable).
  • Candidates who failed to produce the original documents he/she will be rejected.
  • Candidates who wish to be considered under the reserved category or seeking age relaxation, he/she will have to submit required certificate from the competent authority, in the prescribed format at the time of Skill Test. Otherwise, their claim for SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex- Servicemen status will not be entertained and their applications will be considered under General category.
  • Candidates are warned that they may be permanently disqualified from the examinations conducted by the SSC, in case they found claiming SC/ST/OBC/Ex- Servicemen/ PH status falsely.

Age Limit:

Required age for the SSC CHSL exam is 18 to 27 years, date of birth proof may be provided through birth certificate or class 10th passing certificate.

How to Apply for SSC CHSL Exam 2016?

Candidates can submit applications for the SSC CHSL exam through online mode only. Procedure to fill the application form through online mode given below:

Online Apply:

  • Firstly, click on the “Apply Online Here” link provided above.
  • Now, application form window will open.
  • SSC CHSL application form has two parts i.e. “Registration Part” and “Apply Part”.
  • Firstly, candidates have to fill required details in “Registration Part”.
  • And in “Apply Part”, candidates need to pay application fee and, upload scanned photograph and signature.

SSC CHSL Application Fee 2016

Candidates are required to make payment of Rs. 100 as application fee. The fee will not be applicable for female, SC, ST & PH candidates. Candidates can either pay application fee thru online mode or thru SBI Challan:

  • Application Fee thru SBI Challan: Candidates have to pay fee of Rs. 100, candidates can pay application fee thru challan at any SBI branch. (SC/ ST/ Female & PH candidates no need to pay any fee).
  • Online Application Fee: Candidates have to pay fee of Rs. 100, candidates can pay application fee thru net banking and any credit/debit cards. (SC/ ST/ Female & PH candidates no need to pay any fee).

SSC CHSL 2016 Selection Procedure

Selection process includes three steps:

  • 1st Step: Tier-1 Written Exam (Objective Type) (200 Marks) (Online Mode)
  • 2nd Step: Tier-2 Written Exam (Descriptive Type) (100 Marks) (Offline Mode)
  • 3rd Step: Tier-3 Skill Test / Typing Test (candidates who qualify the tier-2 exam will be called for Skill Test / Typing Test)

In Case of Tie

In case where more than one candidate score equal aggregates marks, a tie breaker will be applied:

  • Marks score in written examination.
  • According to the date of birth, who is senior in the age.
  • Alphabetical order in which first names of the candidates appear.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2016

Candidates must know the SSC CHSL exam pattern, read the following details carefully:

Tier-1 Examination:

  • Exam is objective type and will be conducted online.
  • There will be 4 parts in a question paper namely (Part-1) General Intelligence, (Part-2) English Language, (Part-3) Quantitative Aptitude, and (Part-4) General Awareness / General Knowledge.
  • Exam will have 100 questions for 200 marks.
  • Duration of the exam is 75 Minutes.
  • Questions will be set both in English & Hindi for part: 1, 3 & 4.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Tier-2 Examination:

  • Exam is descriptive type and will be conducted offline (pen & paper mode).
  • Candidates need to write essay / précis / letters / application writing etc.
  • Exam carries 100 marks and exam duration will be 1 hour.
  • Exam will have to be written either in Hindi or in English.

Tier-3 Skill Test / Typing Test:

  • Typing Test: Candidates, who are opting English typing, should have typing speed of 35 words per minute and those candidates who are opting Hindi typing should have typing speed of 30 words per minute. Typing test will be applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC and Court Clerk posts.
  • Skill Test: Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on computer. Skill test will be applicable only for Data Entry Operator post.

  • Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness about the environment around and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events.
  • The test will also include questions related to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic, General Policy and scientific research.
