Cities Eligible for upto 7-star rating under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban)—- 1st Regional Workshop on star rating of Garbage- Free Cities Inaugurated

The 1st regional workshop on star rating of garbage- free cities, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in collaboration with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) was inaugurated by Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament in the presence of Sh. Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA. Sh Naresh Kumar, Chairman, NDMC & Sh. V K Jindal, National Mission Director – SBM(Urban) were also present at the event. Addressing the gathering, Ms Lekhi said that a coordinated approach with decentralized solutions should be put in place for tackling the huge generation of Municipal waste in the cities. Emphasizing on the importance of public participation in making cities garbage free, she also propounded for enforcing penalties for violators of hygiene and cleanliness principles.

 

‘Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities (GITC), 2018’ to be held in New Delhi

“Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities (GITC), 2018” will be held in New Delhi during 8th to 11th November, 2018. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed between Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Rehabilitation International Korea here yesterday. As per MoU, both the parties have agreed to cooperate in making all arrangements for the successful events in providing all necessary financial, logistics, manpower and other facilities.This event will have around 300 participants including 120 Youth with disabilities from 24 Asia Pacific countries. GITC is being held every year in Asia- Pacific region and such events were held in the past in countries like Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam etc.

 

Airbnb launches ‘Healthy Tourism’ initiative

Online accommodation platform major Airbnb today said it has launched the ‘Office of Healthy Tourism’, a global initiative to drive local, authentic and sustainable tourism in countries across the globe.

The company also announced the creation of its new Tourism Advisory Board which will comprise travel industry leaders from around the world, Airbnb said in a statement.

 

Flipkart inks partnership with Asus

As part of the ‘Mobiles 40by20’ strategy, e-commerce major Flipkart today has formed a long-term strategic partnership with Taiwanese handset maker, Asus. The first smartphone under this partnership – ZenFone Max Pro – will be launched on April 23.

The partnership will cover sales and marketing of products by Flipkart and see both the companies collaborating for co-creation of new products for the Indian market based on consumer insights.

 

India To Grow At 7.4% In 2018: IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that India is expected to grow at 7.4% in 2018 and 7.8% in 2019 and would re-emerge as one of the fastest growing major economies in the period. The IMF explained this is due to the strong private consumption as well as fading transitory effects of the currency exchange initiative and implementation of the national goods and services tax. According to the IMF, India will leave its nearest rival China which will grow at 6.6 in 2018 and 6.4% in 2019.

 

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani launches digital platform for police force

In order to improve the conviction rate, Gujarat police introduced the digital platform called Pocket Cop Project, under which 4900 smartphones will be contested with real-time information of 68 lakh criminals. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani launched the innovative application as a part of police modernization. Speaking at the function, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that the technological intervention will strengthen the state police force for curbing Morden days crimes. He mentioned that Pocket Cop will improve the efficiency of state police in handling key law and order issues and cybercrime.  On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that all the major districts will be under the surveillance of CCTV ecosystem. Rupani stated that digital platform will safeguard all the criminal records and other information essential for investigation. The Chief Minister expressed that new innovation will fine tune the affairs of state police in curbing criminal activities.

Bengaluru is the highest paying city for Talent: Report

The garden city of Bengaluru is found to be the highest paying city in the country, with an average annual cost to company (CTC) for talent across all levels and functions standing at about Rs 11 lakh, according to Randstad Insights, the research and analysis division of Randstad India. Pune stands second at around Rs 10 lakh, followed by Delhi NCR and Mumbai with an average annual CTC figure of a little under Rs 10 lakh and around Rs 9 lakh, respectively.
