Union HRD Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar Releases ‘NIRF India Rankings 2018’ for Higher Education Institutions

The Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Shri Prakash Javadekar, released the NIRF India Rankings 2018 in various categories on the basis of performance of Higher Educational Institutions in a programme held in New Delhi today. Minister of State Human Resource Development, Dr. Satya Pal Singh released the report on the NIRF Rankings during the event. 69 top institutions in 9 categories were given awards at today’s event. Shri R. Subrahmanyam, Secretary, Higher Education, M/o HRD; Shri Surendra Prasad, Chairman NBA; Prof. D. B. Singh, Chairman UGC; Shri Anil Sahsrabudhe, Chairperson AICTE and representatives of award winning higher education institutions were present on the occasion.

 

Second lead-up Conference to 3rd Annual Meeting of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on ‘Enhancing Port and Coastal Infrastructure’ begins in Visakhapatnam

Dr Trivedi was delivering the Key Note Address at two day lead-up Conference to build up the mommentum to the 3rd Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on the theme of “Enhancing Port and Coastal Infrastructure: A Primer on Potential Areas” in Visakhapatnam, Andgra Pradesh today.  The AIIB’s two-day Regional Conference is being organized by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India in collaboration with AIIB, CII and Research and Infrastructure System (RIS) for Developing Countries. Around 150 delegates representing different color industry, academic and research institutions are participating to deliberate up on the major bottlenecks in the quest for  developing blue economy in order to achieve higher and inclusive economic growth.

 

Suresh Prabhu Launches Digital Initiative for Ease of Export

Union Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Minister, Suresh Prabhu today launched digital initiatives by Export Inspection Council (EIC) for ease of export at New Delhi today.

Speaking on this occasion the Minister said that India’s potential for agricultural and food export will get a great boost due to these digital initiatives.

EIC is the official export certification body of Government of India and has launched this flagship project of Digital India Initiative to keep pace with changing dynamics of the world.

 

Government sets up an IT Grievance Redressal Mechanism to address the grievances of taxpayers due to technical glitches on GST Portal

It has been decided by the Government to put in place an IT-Grievance Redressal Mechanism to address the difficulties faced by a section of taxpayers owing to technical glitches on the GST portal. In this regard, GST Council has delegated powers to an IT Grievance Redressal Committee to approve and recommend to the GSTN the steps to be taken to redress the grievance and provide relief to the taxpayer. The relief could be in the nature of allowing filing of any Form or Return prescribed in law or amending any Form or Return already filed. However, where the problem relates to individual taxpayer, due to localised issues such as non-availability of internet connectivity or failure of power supply, this mechanism shall not be available.

 

HRD Ministry constitutes a High Powered Committee to examine the system of conducting Class X and Class XII examination to prevent leakages.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has constituted a High Powered Committee to examine the entire system of conducting Class X and Class XII examination conducted by the CBSE with a view to prevent leakages.

Shri Vinay Sheel Oberoi, Retd. Secretary (Higher Education), MHRD will be the Chairperson of the 7 member High Power Committee.

 

Amazon India launches B2B global selling programme

After conducting a seven-month-long pilot in India, Amazon Business on Tuesday announced the expansion of its Global Selling programme by launching B2B selling for Indian exporters.

With this, B2B sellers, manufacturers and exporters in India will be able to reach business customers — ranging from sole proprietors to Fortune 500 enterprises — across Amazon’s international marketplaces in the US, the UK, Germany, France and Japan. The company said the pilot received a positive response with over 2,000 registered exporters for B2B global selling at present.

 

Bharat Dynamics, CIPET ink pact to provide skill training to youth in area of plastics

About 520 youth from the under-privileged sections of society will be provided skill training in the area of plastics and related technology. Facilitating this is a memorandum of agreement (MoA) inked between Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) and the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET).

BDL, India’s missile manufacturer headquartered in Hyderabad, will fund up to Rs 3.12 crore, as part of its CSR activity for the purpose. CIPET will organise short duration skill development programmes for unemployed youth from the SC/ ST/ OBC and economically weaker sections.

 

Arun Jaitley re-appointed as Leader of Rajya Sabha

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was today once again appointed as the Leader of the Rajya Sabha following his re-election to the House. The 65-year-old Jaitley’s term had ended yesterday. Upon re-election from Uttar Pradesh, he has again been named as Leader of the House, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said in the Rajya Sabha.

 

Trial Run Of 1st India-Bangladesh Container Train Flagged Off
The trial run of the first container train between India and Bangladesh was flagged off from Kolkata city. The train left for Bangladesh with 60 containers loaded with almost 1,200 tonnes of de-oiled cake, used as a raw material for animal feed. Currently, the trade between India and Bangladesh is largely road-based. It takes almost a month for an Indian truck to reach Bangladesh through the congested Petrapole-Benapole border, with customs clearance alone taking nearly 25 days. The train is also likely to resolve the capacity constraints of sea and land routes.
Commonwealth Games 2018 Starts At Gold Coast In Australia
The 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games will begin in Gold Coast, Australia, with a colorful opening ceremony. This will be a momentous day for the city as the biggest event in its history begins. Carrara Stadium has been chosen as the venue to host the opening ceremony. These Games will mark the 5th time that Australia has hosted the games. India Ranks 37th In Global Startup Ecosystem: Startupblink Report
According to report released by global startup ecosystem map Startup link, India was ranked 37th out of 125 countries in global startup ecosystem in 2017. Startup link is a global startup ecosystem map with tens of thousands of registered startups, coworking spaces, and accelerators. The list, measuring startup ecosystem strength and activity, was topped by the United States followed by the United Kingdom.
